Google Flood Hub — the event products

Google's Flood Forecasting API serves more than gauge forecasts: it reports significant events (clustered basins forecast above danger level, with the people and area in the way), daily flash-flood forecasts, and a flood status for every gauge. This site documents that API surface end to end and shows what it is reporting right now.

Every significant event, flash-flood forecast and gauge above normal that the API reports today, on one map: event polygons, the flooding gauges behind them, and the people and area each event is predicted to affect. Refreshed daily at deploy time.

All eleven methods and thirty schemas of Flood Forecasting API v1, generated from Google's discovery document, with the behaviour we observed calling each one: filters that do not exist, pagination quirks, the 2025-08-01 history floor, polygon formats, and what changed since the team's March 2026 feedback to Google.

Access request form, key set-up and Google's REST reference. The API is free under CC BY 4.0, rate-limited to 200 requests a minute per project.

Data. Everything here is read from the Flood Forecasting API with the team's key at deploy time and published as a static snapshot; the key never reaches the browser. Google licenses the data under CC BY 4.0. The API has no event history, so the map shows the latest state only.
