Humanitarian funding by recipient organisation type, 2023–2026
All countries with FTS-reported incoming funding (paid + committed, USD), split into GHO / non-GHO plan funding and CBPF allocations, by the type of organisation receiving the money (UN Agency, INGO, NNGO, …). One row per country × year × stream × organisation type. Click a column header to sort; switch to Wide for a country × year overview with grouped year columns.
Source & method
- FTS funding and its organisation-type split come from OCHA's public HPC/FTS API
(
api.hpc.tools), destination-side attribution — the same grouping FTS itself publishes. GHO = funding destined to a plan flaggedisPartOfGHO; non-GHO = everything else, including funding reported outside any plan. Pledges are excluded. - CBPF = approved allocation budgets by organisation type and allocation year from the CBPF data hub API.
- Organisation types are FTS's detailed recipient classification harmonized into clear groups: UN Agency, INGO, NNGO (incl. local NGOs/CSOs), Red Cross/Red Crescent, Government, Private organization, Pooled fund, Other, Not specified. CBPF reports only UN Agency / INGO / NNGO / Other.
- The Excel download also contains the wide format (one row per country × year with all org-type columns); the wide CSV is here. Full methodology: repo README.
Caveats
- Recipient type is the first-level recipient FTS records: money passed onward (sub-grants, pooled-fund allocations) stays with the first recipient.
- How to read the "Pooled fund" rows: pooled funds (CBPFs, CERF) are themselves recipient organisations in FTS — a donor's contribution to, say, the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund lands on the fund itself, not yet on any agency or NGO. The GHO / non-GHO "Pooled fund" amount is the fund's net position: contributions into the fund minus its onward allocations (which are counted under the final recipient's org type instead, so UN/INGO/NNGO figures reflect final recipients without double counting). A positive value ≈ money contributed to the fund that hasn't yet appeared as allocations to partners in FTS; a negative value means the fund allocated more in that year than the contributions attributed to it — usually carry-over from an earlier year (e.g. Ukraine 2025). Both are FTS's own published values. To see where pooled-fund money actually landed by partner type, use the CBPF stream, which comes from the funds' own allocation data.
- Ethiopia's GHO figures are understated (FTS does not publish Ethiopia HRP funding); the Syria As-Sweida addendum (~$14.6M GHO, 2025) sits under "Not specified".
- FTS is self-reported and continuously updated — recent years keep rising.
